"Secrets" for micli13

Hange watched cautiously as the tips of Levi’s ears turned red upon seeing Erwin sit down across from him, the two men exchanging a small smile between them. Hange couldn’t help but smirk, noticing Mike was also watching the two intently. Hange knew something was going on between Erwin and Levi, but what? They didn’t know.

“Captain,” Erwin muttered in greeting, clearing his throat awkwardly and starting to eat his soup.

“Commander,” Levi replied quietly, stirring his soup with his spoon and unable to help but stare at Erwin for a moment before glancing down at his soup nervously.

Hange grinned a little, adjusting their glasses. They’d never seen Levi so nervous, nor Erwin so smitten. The two were clearly into one another, but whether they’d made their feelings known to each other was a mystery in itself. They’d been like this for months by this point, and it was almost infuriating as their friend to just watch them dance around their feelings. Although, Hange did suppose that there were more important things to worry about; like Titans, or the Survey Corps, for instance.

“You smell like cleaning supplies, Winnie,” Mike commented with a smug look, “Why’s that? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you clean in your life.”

Erwin blushed slightly, choking a little on his soup. He coughed a couple times before answering, “I… I decided to clean my office. It was really messy, so I-”

“Doesn’t Levi usually clean your office?” Hange teased, and watched with delight as Levi turned a furious shade of red.

“Not this time,” Levi grumbled, shooting Hange a glare, “I let Erwin borrow some cleaning supplies.”

“Mhm,” Mike murmured with a tone of disbelief to his voice, “Sure.”

“Are you trying to imply something, Mike?” Erwin said without looking up, his voice sounding challenging and irritated.

“No no,” Mike chuckled softly, completely unintimidated, “Just curious, that’s all.”

I’m certainly implying something,” Hange grinned mischievously, “You two have been spending quite a lot of time together lately, haven’t you?”

“Yes,” Erwin muttered, shooting Hange a look to ‘shut up’, “We’re close friends.”

“Hmm,” Hange giggled, “Close.”

“Look, I’m not going to sit here and get made fun of,” Levi snapped, getting up and snatching up his bowl as he stormed away from the table.

“L-Levi!” Erwin called after him, shooting Mike and Hange a look of annoyance before he abandoned his soup and rushed after the man.

Hange and Mike immediately bust up laughing after the two had left, and Moblit frowned, “You two shouldn’t have teased them like that. They’ll come out with their relationship when they’re ready.”

Hange laughed softly, “Oh Mobby, honey, don’t be like that. They’re never gonna admit to it if we don’t tease them a little bit.

“What do you think they’re doing, anyway?” Nana asked curiously, “Do you think they really admitted their feelings to one another?”

“I don’t think so,” Mike shrugged, “Erwin’s a big baby. And Levi’s stubborn. They’d never admit their feelings to one another.”

“I dunno,” Hange tried, “Maybe they have. Maybe they’ve already… kissed.”

Eyes were wide amongst the four of them at the implication of the captain and commander sharing a kiss. They were like giddy teenagers, discussing the clear crush between Levi and Erwin. It was almost sweet to think about.

“Maybe they’ve…. you know…” Mike stopped before he could finish his statement, though they all knew what he was implying.

Moblit turned a bright shade of red, smacking Mike’s arm lightly, “Mike! You can’t be serious! We shouldn’t be speculating about the commander and captain’s sex life!”

Nanaba covered her mouth in some embarrassment at the implication, while Mike and Hange merely laughed it off.

“I don’t think sex between them is even possible,” Mike joked, “I mean… anatomically, the commander is too… well let’s just say he’d crush Levi.”

Hange giggled, “Yeah, Levi’s too little.”

The four of them laughed awkwardly, shrugging off the conversation. It was weird to think of their two close friends being together romantically, but it was also not too strange, as the two men were practically inseparable anyways.

Levi stormed into his office and set the soup down on his desk, intending to still eat it. If he couldn’t eat in the mess hall with his friends, then he was going to at least eat it at his desk, god dammit.

But as soon as Levi sat down, Erwin entered shortly behind him, closing Levi’s office door and leaning against it. Levi rolled his eyes because… of course Erwin had followed him. It wasn’t much of a surprise. The blonde looked overly concerned about Levi’s well-being, as if Levi was a child.

“Are you okay?” Erwin asked.

“Erwin, I’m fine,” Levi sighed, taking a couple spoonfuls of soup, “I just didn’t want to keep listening to them poking fun at me… at… at us.”

“Well they wouldn’t poke fun if you just let me tell them,” Erwin pouted in that adorable, puppy dog way that made Levi’s heart melt.

He glanced down at his soup, trying not to be too enamored and affected by the look, “Erwin, are you kidding me? They’d make more fun of us if they knew. That’s why we need to keep it to ourselves.”

Erwin let out a deep breath, walking over to Levi’s desk and running his fingers along the edge of it, “Fine. I just know they’d be happy for us. That’s all.”

“That may be the case,” Levi frowned, “And they may be our friends, but I don’t need the information leaking out to the other cadets. Lord knows what the kids from the 104th would say if they found out their captain was dating the commander. They just… wouldn’t respect me like they do now.”

“Yes, yes,” Erwin dismissed with the wave of his hand, “I know. You’ve told me this before.”

Levi could see Erwin’s hand on his desk out of the corner of his eye, and slowly reached a hand across the wooden surface, placing his palm on top of Erwin’s hand. He looked up to see Erwin smiling gently at him.

“Erwin,” Levi allowed himself a small smile in Erwin’s direction, “I… can we… come here.”

Erwin didn’t hesitate, circling the desk and standing in front of Levi, who pushed his chair out and stood slowly to face him. He looked up at Erwin nervously, a shy smile on his face. He reached a hand up nervously, running his fingers over Erwin’s cheek gently.

That’s when he heard some snickering coming from outside the door, and he narrowed his eyes. Erwin was leaning in, lips puckered and eyes closing. Levi placed a finger on his lips, and Erwin opened his eyes, staring down at him in some confusion.

Levi walked softly over to the door and tore it open, teenagers tumbling through the opened doorway: Eren, Sasha, and Connie. Typical, Levi thought, seeing Jean, Armin and Mikasa a little further down the hall waiting for the others. They all looked mortified at having been caught, awaiting their captain’s wrath.

“You little brats,” Levi growled, “Explain yourselves.”

Eren struggled to his feet, Connie and Sasha practically hiding behind him, “I… sir… we just… we were…”

“Spit it out, Jaeger,” Levi crossed his arms and glared, “What do you think you’re doing listening in on the commander and me?”

“Well, sir,” Eren laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck, “We… We…”

“Are you and the commander a couple, sir?” Sasha asked bravely, so straightforward that even Levi was shocked by the question.

“Excuse me?” Levi inquired, practically aghast.

“There’s been many rumors, sir,” Connie tried to explain, “And we were just wondering if it was true?”

Levi looked back at Erwin with some surprise before clearing his throat and turning back to the kids, “Why the hell would it be any of your business, anyways? You’ll all be running extra laps tomorrow.”

The teens’ faces fell from that, and Levi snapped, “Get the hell out of here, and don’t let me catch you eavesdropping ever again.”

The kids rushed off down the hall, all six of them starting to head out of the building once they’d reunited at the end of the hallway. Levi slammed the door shut in annoyance, sighing and rolling his shoulders free of the stress that had caused him. He soon felt two strong hands around his waist, a chin resting on his shoulder.

“Remind me not to have kids with you,” Erwin chuckled softly in his ear, his breath tickling Levi’s skin, “You’d be ruthless with them.”

“Damn right,” Levi muttered, turning around in Erwin’s arms and lacing his fingers together around the nape of Erwin’s neck.

Erwin smiled sweetly and leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to Levi’s lips, “You know they’ll find out at some point, right?”

“I don’t care,” Levi sighed, unable to help a small smile on his lips from Erwin’s kiss, “I don’t need them knowing right now.”

Moblit was carrying a whole stack of papers to put in the file cabinets in the supply closet for Hange. He was entirely sure what they were for, but he knew they were important. He opened the supply closet while balancing the papers in one hand, shifting back to two once he had the door open. But soon, the papers were all over the floor, as he dropped them upon seeing his commander and captain kissing feverishly in the closet, not noticing Moblit until the papers made a loud boom upon falling onto the floor. So Hange was right, they have been kissing, and maybe Mike was right too, maybe they’ve been-

Moblit stopped the thought before it could even pass his mind, blushing furiously as the three of them stared between one another in some shock. Erwin removed himself from Levi and cleared his throat.

“Um, my apologies, Moblit,” Erwin mumbled sheepishly, his cheeks also dusted red, “Can we… Can this be a secret between the three of us?”

Levi rolled his eyes at Erwin’s politeness, shooting a glare at Moblit, “What he means to say is: if you tell anyone what you saw, I’ll kick your ass.”

Erwin frowned, scolding, “Levi!”

Moblit held his hands up in innocence, “I won’t tell- I‘ll keep it to myself.”

Levi raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms, “Promise?”

He nodded quickly, not wanting to piss Levi off, “Promise.”

Mike leaned back in his chair as he listened to Hange ramble. He was eyeing Moblit carefully; the man smelled of sweat and nerves from the moment he’d joined them at lunch that day. He was trying to figure out why Moblit was so wound up, when he noticed the man glancing between Erwin and Levi, before blushing profusely as Levi began to dab at a stain on Erwin’s shirt meticulously. Ah, Mike thought to himself, He’s seen something happen between the two of them, and he’s keeping it a secret.

“Mobby,” Mike piped up, crossing his arms, “You look sick. Is everything okay?”

Hange immediately stopped talking and turned to Moblit, frowning, “Mike’s right. You look ill. Are you alright?”

Moblit instantly became a bundle of nerves, shaking his head and reddening, “I-I’m fine!”

Erwin and Levi were watching Moblit carefully, and Mike knew something was up. He chuckled softly, twisting his fork in between his fingers, “So what’d you walk in on, hmm? What were our dear captain and commander up to this afternoon?”

Everyone went silent, Nana kicking Mike’s leg from under the table as if to tell him to knock it off. Erwin flushed, giving Moblit pleading eyes. Moblit looked horrified that Mike had brought it up, whatever it was, and was staring at him with mouth agape.

“Alright, if you won’t tell me, Erwin will,” Mike teased, turning to a very embarrassed Erwin, “What were you and Levi up to today, Winnie? I don’t recall seeing either of you at morning training.”

Hange was glancing in between Levi and Erwin with a look of excitement, as if preparing for the announcement of the two’s relationship finally, after all this time. Erwin cleared his throat, a bead of sweat trickling down his temple. Levi looked a little panicked behind his usual nonchalant face, eyes widening slightly.

“We-uh…” Erwin tried, “Had important matters to discuss.”

“They were making out in the closet,” Moblit blurted, as if he’d been ready to burst that whole time. He covered his mouth after saying it, mumbling a muffled ‘sorry’. Erwin and Levi both turned a deep shade of red, which caused Mike to smirk. So he had been right after all.

“Ahh!” Hange cried out in excitement, “Congrats, you two! Oh I’m so happy for you both- when did this start? Have you said ‘I love you’? Oh Levi, is Erwin romantic with you? Have you two fuck-”

“That’s enough, Hange,” Levi said through gritted teeth.

Nanaba smiled awkwardly, “Well, congratulations you two.”

Erwin coughed nervously, trying to clear his throat, “Thank you, Nana, Hange.”

Levi looked something beyond furious, glaring at Moblit, who was almost clinging to Hange for protection, as if Hange could protect him from the wrath of Levi. Erwin wrapped his arm around Levi’s shoulder and smiled softly.

“Well, I suppose you all know now,” Erwin looked a little relieved, as if he’d wanted them to know this whole time, which he likely did. Erwin was usually one who flaunted his lovers, treated them to nice gifts and showed them off in public. Or at least, that’s what he did with Marie, Mike thought to himself.

“I’m sorry,” Moblit muttered, clinging to Hange’s arm in fear, “I’m so sorry, Levi.”

Levi shrugged out of Erwin’s grasp and pointed a finger at Mike, “It’s your fault Moblit told. You were prying.”

Mike smirked, chuckling a little, “So sorry, Levi. Didn’t mean to pry.”

But of course he had meant to pry, and he wasn’t much sorry either. Levi narrowed his eyes at Mike, standing up and placing his hands on the table with a force, “Saying ‘sorry’ doesn’t fix it! Now everyone’s gonna know!”

“Baby,” Erwin tried, “Sit down.”

“Don’t call me that!” Levi squeaked in embarrassment, the tips of his ears turning red.

Hange clasped their hands together, “Aww, Levi! You’re blushing!”

Levi went an even darker shade of red before grumbling swears under his breath and storming off, Erwin going to get up to follow him when Mike placed his hand on Erwin’s shoulder and forced him to sit down again.

“Come on, Winnie,” Mike smiled, patting him heartily on the back, “Tell us all about your love life, hmm?”

Erwin blushed slightly, smiling awkwardly, not wanting to upset anyone, as usual, “I don’t think I should disclose any details… Levi might get upset with me.”

Hange pouted, taking one of Erwin’s hands into theirs to beg, “Aww, please Ervy? We wanna know!! We’ve been speculating for weeks.”

Erwin couldn’t help himself, a sheepish grin appeared on his face as he muttered, “We’ve been together for two months now. I’m… I’m really happy.”

Awww!!” Hange practically shrieked, squeezing Erwin’s hand excitedly, “Oh honey, that’s so exciting!!”

Mike hugged Erwin with one arm, laughing happily, “Good for you, Winnie. We’re all happy for you.”

Erwin chuckled, beaming cheerfully, “He’s really sweet, when we’re alone. He seems happy too.”

Moblit looked like he might be sick due to Levi’s angry exit, and Nanaba was smiling awkwardly at Erwin, wanting to be happy for him but clearly finding the whole situation a bit odd given the circumstances.

“So you two naughty boys were caught kissing,” Hange giggled, letting go of Erwin’s hand, “What else have you two gotten up to?”

Erwin laughed uncomfortably, his cheeks dusted red, “Sorry, Hange. I don’t kiss and tell.”

Hange pouted, “But why not?”

Erwin shimmied out of Mike’s grasp and went to stand, “It’s personal, Hange. I don’t share my intimate life with my friends like that.”

Mike snorted quietly, as that certainly wasn’t true. He recalled one drunk night where Erwin had described pounding Marie into the bed. He certainly did kiss and tell, it was just that Levi would kill him if he did so.

Erwin got up, “Now, if you’ll excuse me. I have to go attend to Levi.”

“Okay, Erwin,” Hange winked, “Attend to him then.”

Erwin chuckled nervously before walking off, and he and Hange instantly broke up laughing as soon as he was out of the mess hall. Nanaba crossed her arms, Moblit still looking sick to his stomach.

Erwin walked into Levi’s room to find him cuddled up in bed, looking thoroughly agitated. Erwin frowned and walked over to him, knowing he was likely very upset about their relationship being outed. He, on the other hand, was quite relieved. He didn’t like having to lie to his friends, to sneak around behind their backs. But he knew that poor Levi didn’t like things this personal being public.

“Levi?” Erwin sighed, sitting on the edge of the bed, “I’m so sorry, darling. I know you didn’t want anyone to know. I should’ve been more careful about our make-out spots.”

Erwin gently rubbed Levi’s back, and Levi pouted, grumbling, “It’s not your fault. They were all prodding, and Moblit couldn’t keep his damn mouth shut.”

The blonde let out a soft snicker at Levi’s words, leaning over and kissing his forehead, “I know, baby. But it’s not so bad, is it? They’re really happy for us - just curious about our relationship is all.”

“What’d you tell them?” Levi narrowed his eyes, shooting Erwin a knowing glare.

“I just told them we were happy together,” Erwin shrugged, “Hange wanted to know about our sex life-”

“-of course they did-”

“-But I kept it to myself.”

Levi let out a relieved breath, nodding a little, “Well, that’s good, at least. I really don’t need Hange asking me about my sex life with you.”

“Yeah,” Erwin smiled softly, pushing a piece of hair out of Levi’s face, “But hey. This is a good thing. Our friends are happy for us, and we don’t have to sneak around anymore!”

Levi grumbled something under his breath before sighing, “I guess so.”

“Come on,” Erwin climbed under the covers, tugging Levi close, “Don’t be so grumpy, baby. It’ll blow over soon.”

Levi nodded, turning around and snuggling into Erwin’s arms, resting his head on the man’s broad chest, “You smell good.”

Erwin placed his chin in Levi’s hair, hugging him gently, “Thanks.”

It took a long moment of silence, but Levi finally let out a deep breath he’d been holding, “I guess it’s okay. You know, that they know. At least now we don’t have to hide it anymore.”

“That’s the spirit,” Erwin murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of his head, “Now, should we continue where we left off in the closet?”

Levi visibly blushed, but soon nodded, leaning his head back to look up at Erwin with a small smile, “I’d like that.”
