Levi had never been so embarrassed in his whole life. Erwin was making them wear matching outfits for their date tonight. They had matching white floral button-ups and tan pants. Erwin was so excited about it.

“It’ll be so cute!” He insisted.

But Levi wasn’t so sure. He thought wearing matching outfits was incredibly cringey and awful. He would do it, just because it was Erwin. But if anyone else had asked him such a thing, he would’ve strangled them.

Erwin’s face lit up when they met up for their picnic in the park that evening. He was so thrilled that Levi had worn what he’d asked of him. Levi had his arms crossed, trying to show he didn’t like it one bit. But Erwin only laughed at Levi’s reaction, sitting down on the blanket he’d lay out for them.

“Thank you for wearing it, Levi,” he smiled. “You don’t know how happy you’ve made me.”

“Yeah, whatever,” Levi grumbled, sitting down across from Erwin on the blanket.

“I brought your favorites,” Erwin explained, emptying the picnic basket. “Strawberries, a turkey sandwich, that white cheddar popcorn you like…”

Levi couldn’t help it. His pout twitched into a small smile as he leaned forwards with interest, “Oh? That sounds good.”

He went to pick up a strawberry when Erwin blocked his hand, “Let me.”

He fed Levi the strawberry gently, wiping the juice from his chin and smiling lovingly at him while he chewed. Levi could feel himself blushing - Erwin’s smile always made him a nervous wreck.

“You look beautiful,” Erwin murmured, running the back of his hand over Levi’s red cheeks. “Especially when you’re happy.”

Levi was only blushing worse as he pushed Erwin’s hand away and muttered, “Stop it.”

Erwin grinned a bit, holding up another strawberry. Levi took a big bite, despite being completely embarrassed by this whole ordeal. Erwin was looking at him so sweetly, and Levi didn’t really understand why. They ate their dinner together, and Erwin kept giving Levi loving glances in between bites. Levi eyed him suspiciously, feeling both giddy from the love but also curious as to why Erwin was acting this way. Had dressing in a matching outfit really made him that happy?

But as the sun began to set, Levi got up and started to fold up the blanket so they could get ready to leave. Erwin went to get up too, except he didn’t. He kneeled on one knee and pulled something from his pocket, and suddenly, Levi noticed someone coming out of the bushes behind them to take pictures of them. Levi was about to yell at the person when he realized it was Hange, videotaping them. What the hell is Hange doing here?

“Baby,” Erwin smiled up at him, opening up a box with a ring in it.

Levi looked at the camera with a confused face before looking back at Erwin, knowing what was happening but also incredibly lost at the same time. This was coming out of nowhere, and Levi didn’t know how to react.

“I don’t know how I’m supposed to do this, but…” Erwin chuckled nervously, holding the box up towards him. “I love you very much. And I planned this whole picnic so that I can get down here on this knee and ask you if you’d take my hand in marriage.”

“What the fuck?” Levi asked in shock, covering his mouth and looking over to Hange as if expecting some form of explanation. “What the fuck?”

Erwin continued to smile up at him, as if he didn't know what else to do. Levi just stared at him like a deer in headlights, completely taken aback by the situation as he exclaimed, “Babe! What’s happening?”

“Will you marry me?” Erwin repeated with a chuckle.

“What?” Levi replied, realizing he owed Erwin an explanation and finally answering, “Yes! Eww! What are you doing?”

Erwin couldn’t help but laugh at that as he held his hand out to Levi, unsure of what to do next, “Do I put it on you?”

“I don’t know!” Levi replied, covering his mouth with his hands in some shock.

“I love you, baby,” Erwin smiled. “Give me your hand.”

Levi held out his hand, starting to tear up, “Right now?”

Erwin nodded, slipping the ring onto Levi’s finger. Levi let out a choked sob as he mumbled, “Eww, it fits perfect.”

Erwin beamed up at Levi before standing up and enveloping him in a hug, rubbing his back as Hange took pictures of them. Levi was shaking with the nerves that situation had brought him, but he was so incredibly happy. Hange started walking over to them to get closer pictures. Levi pulled away from Erwin to share a sweet kiss with him before looking down at his hand and examining the ring.

“It’s beautiful,” Levi sniffled, wiping his eyes. “Oh god this is so ugly of me. What’s happening?”

“We’re gonna get married, baby,” Erwin laughed, kissing the top of Levi’s head and holding his hand. “Look at that ring. Do you like it, honey?”

Levi nodded and kissed Erwin again, “I love it. Is this why you wanted to wear matching outfits? For the pictures?”

Erwin grinned, “Perhaps.”

Levi was soaking in the bath that evening when his fiancé came home from work. He could hear him walk through the front door, take off his shoes and shut the door behind him. Levi sat back in the tub, hair slick and skin starting to prune. He stared at the ring on his finger, smiling a little at it.

Erwin soon appeared in the doorway, an exhausted look on his face. He still smiled cheerfully at Levi as though nothing was wrong, and Levi knew he was trying to cover up just how tired he was. Levi smiled back at him, sitting up in the tub.

“Hi baby,” Erwin greeted.

“Hey Ervy,” Levi replied, drawing his knees to his chest and hugging them. “You look exhausted, sweetie.”

“Yeah,” Erwin sighed. “Long day at work. I’ll probably have a bath after you’re done.”

Levi shrugged a little, “Why don’t you just join me? There’s room in the bath for both of us.”

Usually, Levi wasn’t a big fan of sharing the bath - it felt a little gross - but he trusted Erwin, and he knew Erwin was a cleanly person. Erwin must’ve known that it’d taken a lot for Levi to ask such a thing, and he smiled appreciatively.

“I’d love to,” Erwin decided, starting to unbutton his shirt.

He stripped himself of his clothes, and Levi scooted up in the spacious tub to give Erwin room to get in. Erwin climbed in behind him and sat down in the tub, wrapping his arms around Levi and tugging him onto his lap. They leaned back in the tub together, Levi resting comfortably on Erwin’s chest as Erwin brought his arms up to rest on the edges of the bath.

“Thanks for letting me join you,” Erwin murmured. “I really needed this.”

“That’s so sweet, my darling,” Erwin whispered against Levi’s head, kissing his damp hair. “You’re so good to me.”

“And you to me,” Levi agreed, squeezing Erwin’s hand. “I can’t wait until we’re married. Can we pick a date soon?”

The two had been engaged for almost a year now, but both of them had been too busy to pick a date and start planning. Levi understood - he and Erwin had busy lives, and he knew they would get married eventually.

“Mmm,” Erwin hummed cheerfully. “I’d love to pick a date. Maybe when we come back from our vacation we can start planning, yeah? I want to give us the most perfect wedding ever.”

“Ever?” Levi chuckled, sitting up a little more as he’d slipped down into the tub over the past couple of minutes. “That’s quite the goal you have there.”

He could feel Erwin smiling behind him, “Well you know I have to have the best for you, sweetheart. I’d give you everything you want if I could.”

“All I want is to be married to you,” Levi responded, turning his head to share a kiss with his fiancé. “That’s all I could ever ask for.”

Erwin was completely oblivious. Four-year-old Levi had done everything he could to make the six-year-old aware that he liked him. But Erwin just thought they were good friends, and Levi didn’t know how to make him understand that he loved him. So he decided to go all out.

“Mama,” Levi tugged on his mother’s dress before school that morning. “Mama, I wanna wear my suit to school.”

Kuchel looked down at her son with a small smile, “Aww, baby. A suit is for special occasions. I don’t want you to get it dirty on the playground.”

“But Mama,” Levi sighed in exasperation. “I… I wanna ‘press someone.”

“Im-press?” His mother corrected him, squatting down in front of him and fixing his hair. “Who do you want to impress, sweetheart?”

Levi blushed and shooed his mother’s hands away, mumbling, “…Erwin…”

Kuchel beamed at him, giggling and taking his little hands into hers, “Aww, that’s so precious. Why do you want to impress Erwin, baby?”

“I wanna marry ‘im,” Levi replied sheepishly as she swung their hands back and forth.

Kuchel looked so touched, a tear in her eye, “Aww! Oh honey, that’s so sweet!”

Levi pouted as he pulled his hands away and crossed his arms, “S not!”

Kuchel stood up with a grin on her face, holding out her hand, “Come on, baby. Let’s find you a nice outfit to wear for Erwin.”

About an hour later, Levi was standing on the playground in his nice button-up blue shirt and tan pants that his mom had picked out for him. It was his favorite shirt, so he was happy to be wearing it just for Erwin. School would start in about ten minutes - they had a small recess at the beginning of the day. 

Levi had picked some flowers in the field beside the playground, and he could see Erwin sitting at the other end of the playground on a bench, reading a book. That was one of the things Levi liked so much about him - Erwin was so smart. He would read Levi books and be super patient with all his questions. Nobody gave Levi the time like that, aside from his mother. Levi had made Erwin a necklace out of colorful paperclips at craft time yesterday, and he had it in his pocket to give to Erwin.

Levi nodded, his heart skipping a beat after Erwin took them from him. He dug the necklace out of his pocket and got down on one knee, the way he’d seen other men do in the movies. Erwin raised an eyebrow in some confusion.

“Erwin,” Levi asked quietly. “Will you be marry me?”

Levi looked up at Erwin and held out the necklace. He knew it was supposed to be a ring, but he didn’t know how to make a ring. Only paperclip necklaces. So he figured this would have to do. Erwin’s eyes widened slightly before a grin passed over his face.

“Levi, we’re only little,” he chuckled, but upon Levi’s face falling in disappointment, he quickly changed his answer. “But yes, I’ll marry you.”

Levi couldn’t help but giggle, getting off his knee and jumping up and down with excitement. He held out the necklace to Erwin, who took it and put it around his neck. Levi had never been so happy, and he clambered onto the bench to hug onto Erwin, who hugged him back.

“Now we’re husbands!” Levi exclaimed cheerfully.

Erwin leaned over and kissed Levi on the cheek, which turned Levi’s face completely red as he touched the spot where Erwin kissed him.

“Do you want me to read this book to you?” Erwin asked, pretending as though it hadn’t fazed him. “It’s about a knight who fights bad guys!”

Levi’s eyes widened with interest, and he laid his head on Erwin’s shoulder, “Uh huh.”

With that, Erwin began to read to Levi while they waited on the playground for school to start. Levi was the happiest he’d ever been, being married to Erwin.

Levi’s hands were sweating as he stood at Erwin’s front door. He’d never been so nervous in his whole life. Erwin was his boyfriend, and they’d been secretly dating for a month now. He knew that Erwin’s father had died when he was young, and his mother was apparently homophobic, despite knowing her son’s preferences. That’s why Levi was worried as he stood in front of the Smith’s house, waiting for Erwin to answer.

He must’ve been incredibly anxious. Levi didn’t have the problem Erwin did. His mother and his uncle, the people he lived with, were both supportive of him. “No matter what happens,” Levi whispered, reaching over to place a hand on Erwin’s knee. “I’ll always be here for you, Erwin.”

Erwin smiled at him and leaned over to kiss his cheek, before hastily retreating upon hearing his mother’s footsteps come down the hallway. His mother entered the room, a smile on her face as she waved at Levi, “Hi Levi. It’s so nice to meet one of Erwin’s friends.”

“Hi Mrs. Smith,” Levi greeted. “It’s nice to meet you too.”

“So what is it you boys wanted to talk to me about?” She asked as she sat down in the armchair.

“M-Mom,” Erwin started, his voice shaky and terrified. Levi felt bad for him. Erwin’s eyes were wide, as if he might cry, and Levi, despite being an incredibly quiet person, decided he needed to help Erwin out with this.

“Erwin has something he wants to tell you,” Levi chimed in, and Erwin exchanged a grateful look with Levi. “He knows you might not like it, but he wants you to be open about it - to hear him out.”

Mrs. Smith suddenly looked very serious, and a little concerned, as if she was worried that Erwin was about to tell her some bad news, which, to her, this news might be. Erwin took in a deep breath, clearly trying to calm his nerves.

“What is it, Winnie?” His mother asked. “Is everything okay?”

“Well I…” Erwin murmured, voice still quaking. “I’m dating Levi…”

Erwin’s mother took in a sharp breath, as though she was shocked, and she stared between the two of them for a moment. Levi held his breath, fingers digging into his thighs and knuckles turning white.

“Oh,” Mrs. Smith muttered. “Well I… I don’t know, Winnie… you know how I feel about… all that.”

Erwin’s face fell. Levi’s heart was beating out of his chest.

“B-But…” Erwin spoke, barely above a whisper. “Mom I… I really like him and… I just want you to be happy for me, for… for us…”

“I understand that,” Mrs. Smith frowned. “But Erwin, sweetie. Don’t you see that it’s wrong?”

Erwin was squeezing his thighs in his fingers, as if trying to cope. There were tears in his eyes, and Levi wanted to yell at Mrs. Smith for making Erwin feel this way. Why couldn’t she see that this was what Erwin wanted - that this was what was making him happy?

“I don’t think it’s wrong,” Erwin tried. “I really care about Levi, and I just want-”

“Well,” Erwin’s mom sighed in frustration, getting up from her seat. “You two can pretend to have your silly little relationship if you want. But I know you, Winnie. You’ll find a nice girl to settle down with someday.”

With that, she walked out of the room. Erwin was visibly shaking. Levi watched her go, and then looked over at Erwin, who had tears running down his face now. Levi frowned, hearing his mother slamming kitchen cabinets in the other room, clearly upset.

Levi placed a hand on Erwin’s knee, “Let’s go back to my house. Mama’s making stuffed bell peppers for dinner. I’m sure she’ll have extra.”

Erwin sniffled and wiped his tears on his sleeve, not looking at Levi as he nodded a little, “Y-Yeah… I’d like that, Levi. Thank you.”

Levi got up from the couch and held his hand out to Erwin, “Come on, Ervy. It’ll be okay. I’ll take care of you.”

Erwin sniveled sadly before he forced a small smile up at Levi, taking his hand and getting off the couch, “Thank you, Levi. I really appreciate that.”

Erwin chuckled as he walked back into the dorm he shared with his boyfriend, Levi. Levi was curled up on the futon, asleep, dressed in one of Erwin’s sweatshirts. It was practically a dress on Levi, and his boyfriend was only wearing briefs on his lower half, so the sweatshirt really swallowed him up. He’s so precious, Erwin thought as he sat at the edge of the futon, running his fingers through Levi’s hair gently.

Levi yawned and whimpered, eyebrows furrowed as he stretched and nuzzled his cheek into the pillow a little more. His eyes were still closed, and he was mumbling things in his sleep. Erwin leaned over and kissed Levi’s forehead, still stroking his hair softly.

“Hi baby,” Erwin whispered. “Are you awake?”

Levi frowned and shook his head, stubbornly keeping his eyes closed as he mumbled, “Nah uh.”

Erwin grinned a bit, finding Levi completely adorable. He teased, “I noticed you’re wearing my sweatshirt again. You really like wearing my clothes, don’t you?”

Levi’s eyes snapped open, a blush appearing on his cheeks. He didn’t often get caught wearing Erwin’s clothes, but when he did, he’d get incredibly embarrassed about it. Clearly, he’d forgotten he was wearing Erwin’s sweatshirt in his sleepy state.

“N-No!” Levi argued. “It was just cold and I… I…”

“It’s okay, baby,” Erwin reassured him, pecking his cheek. “You know I don’t mind.”

“It’s embarrassing,” Levi whined and covered his face.

“I think it’s cute,” Erwin smiled affectionately down at his boyfriend. “It shows you miss me when I’m gone.”

“Whatever,” Levi grumbled, snuggling under his blanket and pouting. “And for the record, I don’t miss you.”

Erwin couldn’t help but laugh at that. Levi was so stubborn when he wanted to be. Erwin climbed onto the futon behind Levi and snuggled up to him, wrapping an arm around his waist and tugging him close.

“I know you missed me,” Erwin nuzzled Levi’s neck, causing the shorter man to giggle - that was one of his most ticklish spots. “You don’t have to lie about it, baby.”

“Mmph,” Levi huffed,  his cheeks still dusted red. “And what if I did miss you? What then, huh?”

Erwin smiled and drew Levi closer, kissing his neck lightly before starting to tickle his sides, “Then I guess I’ll have to punish you for lying.”

Levi squealed and squirmed, shaking his head and kicking his legs, “No! Stop it!”

Erwin laughed and continued to tickle Levi’s sides, leaving little kisses on his neck and enjoying the little giggles escaping Levi’s mouth. He was entirely too cute, and Erwin was determined to tickle him until he was out of breath.

“Ervy!” Levi protested, trying to push Erwin’s hands away. “Stop! I can’t breathe!”

Erwin grinned and pulled his hands away, resting them on Levi’s hips and letting the man catch his breath. Levi had some leftover giggles, and he turned around with a playful smile on his face. Erwin leaned down to peck him on the lips, before gasping when Levi started to tickle under his arms.

Erwin laughed and pushed Levi’s hands away, “Oh, so that’s how we’re going to play it, huh?”

He climbed on top of Levi and pinned his hands above his head with one hand before using the other to tickle Levi’s neck, under arms, and then his sides. Levi squeaked and struggled, shaking his head.

Erwin smiled sweetly and kissed his cheek, “Of course, baby. I’ll go first, and if you decide you don’t want to anymore, that’s okay. You just let me know.”

Levi smiled back shyly, letting go of Erwin’s hand and trying not to watch as Erwin took off his shirt. She was staring up at him with wide eyes, little fingers reaching out to touch at his face. Levi knew that Erwin was in love with her from the moment he’d seen her, and he was too. But he could tell that Erwin would be the baby’s favorite. At first, he’d been a little jealous, but he knew that his daughter would grow to love him in her own way too. She was only eight weeks old, who could blame her for liking the gorgeous blonde with the bright blue eyes and the pretty smile?

Willow gurgled and smiled up at Erwin, who was busy nuzzling his face into her tummy and blowing raspberries. Levi went to the closet to find her an outfit for the day. They’d been gifted so many baby clothes they didn’t know what to do with them.

Levi picked out a little purple and white onesie with kittens on it and some purple shorts to match. He found a white sparkly bow and a purple binky to go with her outfit, and when he turned around he saw Erwin changing her on the changing table, cooing at her as he put a fresh diaper on.

Levi loved seeing Erwin like this. He was just so happy. Levi had never seen him smile this much, not since their wedding. It was endearing, and Levi was so glad to have this baby with Erwin. Levi walked over to the changing table and handed the outfit to Erwin.

“Look what dada picked out for you, baby girl!” Erwin exclaimed cheerfully, holding up the onesie. “See? There’s kittens! Do you know what sound a kitten makes?”

Levi refrained from rolling his eyes and telling Erwin that she couldn’t answer him yet, not wanting to ruin Erwin’s fun. The little girl squealed and squirmed on the changing table, kicking her legs as if she wanted to answer but couldn’t other than gurgles and coos.

“That’s right!” Erwin tickled her tummy before he started putting the onesie on her. “A kitten says meow, Willow!”

Levi helped Erwin dress her, putting on her bow and giving her the binky. She stared up at Levi with her bright blue eyes - the doctors said that she wouldn’t have blue eyes forever, it was just a newborn thing, but Levi liked to imagine she’d always have blue eyes, and that people might say she got them from her father (Erwin), even though neither of their DNA was involved in her making.

“Look at my pretty baby,” Levi cooed as he leaned over to kiss her cheek. “We love you so much, honey.”

Erwin smiled and lifted her from the changing table, holding her to his chest, “Let’s go make her a bottle, okay? Before she gets fussy.”

Willow’s little fists pawed at Erwin’s shirt as she looked around as best she could. She couldn’t fully move her head on her own yet, but that would come with time. Levi and Erwin headed downstairs and Levi began to make a bottle for her, handing it to Erwin once it was done. Erwin tested it on his wrist to make sure it wasn’t too hot before giving the bottle to his daughter, who was more than eager to suckle the liquid down.

“She’s so beautiful,” Erwin sighed as he smiled down at her affectionately, sitting in the rocking chair in front of their TV. “I can’t wait until she walks and talks… she’s going to be the smartest little girl ever. I’m going to read her so many books and teach her the alphabet as soon as she can learn.”

“Hold your horses there,” Levi chuckled, sitting on the couch adjacent to the chair. “She can barely even lift her head on her own let alone learn the alphabet. Besides, we shouldn’t wish for her to grow up so soon. The weeks and months will pass by fast, and before you know it, she’ll be eighteen and moving out.”

Erwin laughed softly, “I suppose you’re right. I don’t want to think about that though. She’ll always be my baby girl, no matter what.”

“I know,” Levi smiled. “She’ll be our child forever, Erwin. And I think you’ll do a great job at raising her.”

“You will too,” Erwin agreed, and little Willow was starting to drift off to sleep after having finished the entire bottle in mere minutes. She must’ve been hungry.

“We’ll be great dads,” Levi decided with certainty. “I know we will.”
